All my friends tease me about my "blogger friends" aka, all the bloggers I follow [slightly] obsessively, who clearly aren't my friends in real life. I can't help it though, I love blogs and when I found out one of my favorite TV hosts, Jillian Harris, had one, I was sold. Her website has a little bit of everything but I couldn't help but wonder why she wasn't writing about her career in TV and design. Jillian was the Bachelorette in 2009, yes, she was a reality TV star, but she's so much more than that. Now, she's the host of Love It or List It Too and she collaborates on design projects with big time businesses. Her Instagram is a dream; she posts killer #OOTD photos, food shots and tons of other jealousy-inducing snapshots of her daily life [which of course, is much cooler than most other people's daily grind].
The highlight of Jillian though is her ability to be real, even with all the pressure to be a "personality".
If you watch her on Love It or List It Too, you'll instantly see what I mean. One day, I got the wild idea to write her and ask her to share more about her professional life on her website. In true Jillian Harris form, she wrote back with about a million exclamation points and was eager to share a behind-the-scenes view of her life.
Not only did she have some great advice about advancing your career, she was honest about the struggles of social media -- something we can all relate to famous or not.
