I love finding out people's stories. It's easy to look at a successful blogger or business owner and assume success has always been part of their backstory. Almost always though, success stems from one big fat failure. I came across a blog called Sugar & Cloth yesterday on accident and then I stayed on the site for about two hours. Instead of just enjoying the bright, water color DIY's, I became more interested in finding out how Ashley got her blog to where it is; Yahoo just named it one of their Top 10 Best DIY and Craft Blogs to follow in 2015.
Some years ago, Ashley took a break from art school and later, on a whim, moved across the country to Houston, Texas. A whim...Isn't this how it always starts? We make decisions that seem rash at the time then slowly but surely a fresh start is revealed to us and our family who (with the best of intentions) are concerned about us throwing away our future. Sometimes, in the slush of work, bills and last minute trips to the grocery store, it's easy to forget -- we get to pick, not somebody else, what we do, where we live and who we love. While a rash decision might not be popular at the time, the payoff almost always is.
